Global EducationHigher Education
Education has become an indicator of global competitiveness as well as a beacon for capitalization, entrepreneurialism, and capacity building; this fact makes explicit that at the root of all capacity building is a need for self-knowledge for community success and economic recovery. The Glazier Foundation is committed to strengthening and developing education systems in the poorest regions of the world as a means to increase capacity building and development efforts.
Our focus is in closing the gap between basic education needs at the Primary School level and the decline of university level influence across our need for globally educated citizens.
Access to education is a factor inundated with factors from poor funding options, no classroom infrastructure, as well as unstructured systems of didactic teaching, education, and basic materials for learning. At the Primary Education level we address issues of access to education through financial support to ensure that gender biases, discrimination, as well as self needs such as hunger, poor nutrition, and transportation issues are not barriers to receiving an education in regions that have school systems. For regions that are lacking trained educators, basic facilities for operations, or are in need of addressing classroom level concerns, we focus on solutions through curriculum development to reach universal standards, sustainable infrastructure support, and delivery models respectively.
For regions facing challenges around Higher Education such as brain drain, poor financing, and training programs, we support initiatives that emphasize skills-based training or technology transfer needs. At Glazier Foundation, we invest in Higher Education because there is an opportunity to reshape the current problems that are ruinous to a much needed dynamic and knowledge-based economy. At the core of university stagnation in developing regions are complex issues of poor governance, lack of autonomy as well as perverse incentives. By taking on a public-private approach, we are able to support new innovations in Higher Education in a digital age.
By addressing chronic issues of education at Primary and Higher Education levels in at-risk areas, we aim to push the boundaries of matching basic education and high education needs as they align with labor market demand. In order to decrease the constant stratification amongst education systems that lead to greater inequity, we bring our Foundation’s philosophy of standards and outcomes to the investment in excellence in education systems.
